Kenwood KRA22 VHF Low Profile Helical Antenna (Pair)

These are Kenwood KRA-22 antennas, supplied as a pair. Kenwood's accessory chart lists the KRA-22 as a VHF helical antenna in the short type.

Short helical is the choice where the radio has to sit close to the body or clear a doorway, and it trades a little reach for that. The band is not negotiable: a VHF antenna belongs on a VHF radio, and fitting one to a UHF radio costs range in a way that shows up as poor coverage rather than as an obvious fault.

Antennas are among the most replaced parts on any fleet because they get bent in doorways and caught in vehicle doors. Supplied as a pair, which covers two radios or gives one radio a spare. The KRA-23 is the UHF equivalent in the same short helical style.
