It is a power supply and not a charger, which is the distinction that matters when ordering. A charging tray holds the radio; this is the mains adapter that feeds it. A tray without its power supply charges nothing, and a lost or damaged adapter takes a working charger out of service just as effectively as a failed one.
Motorola notes that the Americas rapid charging kit is supplied as a power supply together with a drop-in tray charger and an AC pin adapter, so anyone replacing part of a kit should check which piece is actually missing before ordering.
