ICOM F7000 Series

The ICOM F7000 series is a rugged P25 portable platform for public-safety and professional users who need secure, interoperable voice in VHF, UHF or 700/800 MHz configurations. The family supports P25 conventional and trunked operation alongside analog FM for phased system migration.

Who it is for

The F7010, F7020 and F7040 are P25 radios for agencies and the contractors who work beside them: fire, EMS, public works, campus police, utilities and transit operators who must talk on a P25 conventional or trunked system. Choose the band to match the system: F7010 VHF, F7020 UHF, F7040 700/800 MHz.

Size, weight and battery

• Size: 2.1 x 4.9 x 1.5 in (53.6 x 123.5 x 38.2 mm) with the BP-284 battery, projections not included.
• Weight: about 12.5 oz (355 g) on VHF and UHF, 12.2 oz (345 g) on 700/800 MHz, with the BP-284, MB-133 clip and antenna.
• Battery: the supplied BP-284 (3210 mAh typical) runs about 14 hours on VHF; the BP-283 (2010 mAh) about 9 hours. Chargers: BC-225 intelligent charger (2.5 and 4.5 hours), BC-227 compact (2.7 and 4.3 hours), BC-219N desktop, and the BC-214 six-bay.
• Protection: IP68, one meter of water for one hour, dust-tight; MIL-STD-810G.
• Recording: a user-supplied microSD card stores voice and data; Icom quotes up to 500 hours on a 32 GB card.
• In the box: BP-284 battery and MB-133 belt clip; the F7040 also ships with its FA-S100U antenna. Icom notes that the charger and the VHF or UHF antenna are purchased separately, so tell CMI which you need.

Licence and system access

P25 radios operate on licensed public safety or business frequencies, and a trunked system also needs the system owner's permission and programming. AES encryption needs the UT-134 or UT-125FIPS encryption unit and the matching upgrade key. CMI can walk you through what your system requires.

Accessories that fit

CMI connector code: I4 (Icom 14-pin). Icom's brochure names the HS-94 earphone headset among the options; on this family it needs the VS-4MC PTT switch cable. The HM-222H speaker microphone with emergency button (IP68), the batteries, chargers, antennas and encryption units are not listed online; ask CMI by part number.
