ICOM F3400D - F4400D Series VHF UHF Digital Handheld Transceiver

The ICOM F3400D/F4400D series is a high-feature IDAS platform for organizations that need flexible digital voice, data and system growth. VHF F3400D and UHF F4400D versions support analog migration, multi-site operation and extensive channel organization in a compact professional portable.

Who it is for

The F3400D and F4400D are Icom's top IDAS portables for fleets that need room to grow: multi-site operations, campuses and utilities that want 1,024 channels, GPS, Bluetooth and recording in one radio, with encryption available. Three layouts: the plain radio with 32 channels and no display, the DS with a colour display, and the DT with a colour display and full DTMF keypad.

Size, weight and battery

• Size: 2.1 x 4.9 x 1.2 in (53.6 x 123.5 x 29.3 mm) with the BP-284 battery, projections not included.
• Weight: about 12.0 oz (340 g) on VHF and 11.8 oz on UHF, with the BP-284, MB-133 clip and antenna.
• Battery: the supplied BP-284 (3210 mAh typical) runs about 16.5 hours; the slimmer BP-283 (2010 mAh) about 10.5 hours. The BC-227 compact charger refills them in about 2.7 and 4.3 hours; the BC-225 intelligent charger reports battery condition, and the BC-214 charges six at once.
• Protection: IP68, rated for 1 m of water for 1 hour, dust-tight; MIL-STD-810G.
• In the box: BP-284 battery and MB-133 belt clip. Icom's price guide notes that the antenna and charger are purchased separately for this family, so tell CMI which band and charger you need.

Licence

This radio operates on licensed business frequencies. An FCC business radio licence (Part 90) is required to transmit; CMI can point you at the process when you order.

Accessories that fit

CMI connector code: I4 (Icom 14-pin). Icom's brochure names the HS-94 earphone headset among the options for this radio; on this family it needs the VS-4MC PTT switch cable. The HM-222 speaker microphone with emergency button (IP68), the BP-283 and BP-284 batteries and the BC-225, BC-227 and BC-214 chargers are not listed online; ask CMI by part number.
