Motorola Lightweight RMN5114 Temple Transducer PTT

The RMN5114 is a lightweight temple transducer headset with an in-line push-to-talk microphone.

A temple transducer passes sound through contact at the side of the head instead of sealing the ear canal, which is why this style gets specified where someone has to hear the radio and the room at once: a reversing alarm, a shouted warning, a customer at the counter. An earpiece that blocks the ear is the wrong tool in those places, however good it sounds.

The in-line push-to-talk means transmissions happen without unclipping anything, so the radio stays holstered through a shift. Motorola lists the RMN5114 within the RM Series accessory range, which the company describes as the only accessories tested and certified for those radios.
